The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District and its contractor, Magnus Pacific Corporation, have been awarded the American Society of Civil Engineers Sacramento Section – 2012 Flood Control Project of the Year award – for their work on an American River levee.
RGDL was hired by Magnus Pacific to monitor noise and vibration levels as per U.S. Army Corps of Engineers specifications. RGDL’s work involved deployment of seismographs and sound level meters between the construction area and existing residences to continuously quantify noise and vibration levels. Weekly reports were provided to the contractor who in turn, submitted the reports to the Corps of Engineers. The project also included nighttime construction activities.

Are you adopting or considering the adoption of NFPA 72 for your building? If so, RGDL can help.

Joel Lewitz, P.E., RGDL’s principal in charge of AV design attended a national workshop on Emergency Communication System (ECS) Speech Intelligibility. One hot topic was Chapter 24 of NFPA 72 which requires an intelligible voice announcement system. Depending on the situation, this could apply to health care facilities, schools, high rise office buildings, military installations, transportation terminals, tunnels, etc. If this is of concern to you, RGDL has the solutions and tools for the design and commissioning of ECS and other mass notification systems.

For questions or inquiries, please contact Joel at 415.464.0150 x322 or jlewitz@RGDLacoustics.com

RGDL has restarted the sound and vibration monitoring at the Marysville Ring Levee for the 2012 construction season. The US Army Corps of Engineers is sponsoring a levee strengthening project in the Yuba River Basin to protect the residential area in Marysville, California. RGDL is helping Magnus Pacific and Raito satisfy the Corps’ sound and vibration specification while they conduct deep soil mixing (DSM) improvements. RGDL conducted the continuous sound and vibration during the 2011 construction season and has now restarted the monitoring for the 2012 season.
